Sensei John L. Terry, III
John currently holds a 2nd Dan ranking in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate and an instructor and co-owner of River Valley martial Arts in Russellville AR. He is also a certified self-defense instructor, specializing in children’s and women’s self defense tactics, a personal trainer and a youth fitness instructor.
John is the Executive Director of Kid-Safe Communities. He is a passionate speaker on youth safety issues, and speaks regularly to school, civic, church and community groups on a variety of safety topics.
John also speaks to women’s groups on rape and assault prevention, and oversees the Women-Safe Communities project. He helps martial arts schools incorporate both the Kid-Safe and Women-Safe curriculum into their programs. John is a 2007 inductee into the US Martial Arts Hall of Fame for his Kid-Safe advocacy work.
John also works with martial arts schools to help with marketing and retention, as well as administration, budgeting, curriculum development and fundraising. He is the owner of KarateWebsites.net, a web design and hosting company for martial arts schools, fitness centers, and general business.
John also serves as the IMAC Webmaster, maintaining the organization’s websites and assisting with marketing and association promotion.
